How do I put screenshots into a PDF?

  1. Take your screenshots (the shortcuts are below), then choose them here, in the order they should be read.
  2. Choose “Image size” to keep the shape of the screen, or A4 for printing.
  3. Press “Create PDF”, then download it.

To take a screenshot: on an iPhone with Face ID, press the side button and the volume up button at the same time; on an iPhone with a Home button, the side button and the Home button. On Android, press Power and Volume down. On Windows, the Windows key + Shift + S opens the Snipping Tool; on Mac, Cmd + Shift + 3 captures the whole screen. Screenshots go to your photos or your Screenshots folder.

A long conversation often takes several screenshots: add them in chronological order, check the list, then create the PDF. With “Image size”, each page keeps the screen's proportions, without white bands; in A4, the screenshots are centred on a page ready to print.

Before sending, look at what your screenshots show: phone numbers, addresses, notifications. Once the PDF is created, the Redact tool permanently hides an area (drag over it by hand, since a screenshot is an image) and the Crop tool trims off the top bar. Your screenshots stay on your device throughout.

Frequently asked questions

Can a screenshot be used as evidence?

It can be submitted, but since it is easy to alter, its weight is assessed case by case. For a major dispute, a report drawn up by a commissaire de justice (a French judicial officer) is safer.

Will the text in my screenshots be selectable?

No, a screenshot is an image. To search or copy its text, then run the PDF through the OCR tool (French and English).

Are the screenshots reduced?

Only if they exceed 2,400 pixels in height or width: they are then slightly reduced to that size, and the text stays legible.

Are my screenshots uploaded online?

No, the PDF is created by your browser. Your private conversations don't leave your device.
