How do I reduce the file size of a photo?

  1. Choose your photo (JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC).
  2. Choose the maximum size: 1 MB, 500 KB, 2 MB or a specific value.
  3. Press “Shrink photo”, then download the smaller photo, in JPG format.

A photo taken with a recent phone often weighs 3 to 10 MB, far more than many official websites accept. For a vehicle registration certificate, for example, the ANTS website limits each document to 1 MB. Rather than taking the photo again, shrink it here.

TwoDocument first looks for the best JPG quality that fits within the chosen limit, then reduces the dimensions only if necessary. The document stays readable: a supporting document doesn't need 12 million pixels. iPhone HEIC photos are accepted and converted to JPG along the way.

The photo is not uploaded anywhere: it is recompressed by your browser, on your phone or computer. That matters for an ID document, a tax notice or a payslip.

Which limit should I choose?

The one stated by the site where you are uploading the photo. 1 MB suits most procedures. If in doubt, choose 1 MB: it is a good balance between file size and readability.

Will the photo still be readable?

Yes, in the vast majority of cases: the quality is reduced just enough to fit within the limit. If the limit is very low (under 200 KB), small print may become less sharp: check the result before sending it.

Can I shrink several photos at once?

Yes with the 24-hour pass or Premium: each photo is reduced with the same limit, then they are all grouped in a ZIP archive. For free, shrink them one by one.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. It is read and recompressed in your browser. No copy is uploaded or stored.
